CMU-Q’s Chadi Aoun is an associate teaching professor of information systems and an expert in smart cities. He shares the two perceptions of smart cities: one focusing on infrastructure and the other focusing on the people who live in the community.
What are the challenges we face as we build smarter cities? Professor Aoun thinks the biggest challenge is to overcome an extreme focus on technology. He believes it is critical to connect with the community and assess its values and priorities, and then translate these into infrastructure possibilities.
